Getting started
CaRe 101 has two faces. The floor app runs on phones and tablets at the inspection bench, and the console opens in any web browser for supervisors, experts and admins. Both talk to the same system, so a defect logged on the floor appears in the console within seconds.
Which part do I use?
Your addresses. The floor app is opened at care101.sandtesting.org/app/. The console is opened at care101.sandtesting.org/console.html. Bookmark whichever one you use.
Creating your organization
An organization is set up once, at care101.sandtesting.org/signup.html: enter your work email and a password and verify your email. Versatile approves the new organization, and you then sign in to the console as its first admin to add your team, parts and work areas. If Versatile set your organization up for you, you receive a welcome email and sign in with the details it contains.
One rule that runs through everything
No grading is thrown away. When an inspector picks a defect and a supervisor changes it, both labels are kept and the higher authority becomes the working answer. Disagreements are preserved on purpose, because they show where training helps and they teach the system for the future.
Floor app Inspector
You are the eyes at the bench. The app is built for one hand and dusty gloves: big buttons, no typing, no menus. You photograph the casting, mark the defect, tap what it is, and the app jumps straight to the next one. Everything works offline, so a weak signal does not stop you.
1. Install the app (once per device)
- Open care101.sandtesting.org/app/ in Chrome on the phone or tablet. An internet connection is needed the first time you sign in.
- Open the browser menu and choose Add to Home Screen. A CaRe 101 icon is added, and the app then opens like any other app.
2. Sign in
Your admin gives you a User ID (for example 1-sunil) or registers your email. On the sign-in screen, type your User ID or email and your PIN, then tap Sign in. The first sign-in needs internet; after that the app remembers you on that device and signs you in offline.
New PIN needed. If your admin has just created or reset your account, the app asks you to set your own PIN the first time you sign in. Nobody else knows it after that.
3. Pick your work area
Straight after sign-in the app asks where are you working? and shows big buttons for each area your admin set up - Fettling, Final Inspection, Pre-dispatch and so on. Tap the one you are standing at. This is set once for the batch and does not need touching again.
4. Pick the part
Next, tap the part you are inspecting from the list. That is the whole setup. From here it is the same short loop for every casting.
The loop, over and over. Photograph the heat and pattern → photograph the defect and draw a box on it → tap what the defect is. The record saves and the app returns to the camera for the next piece. Under ten seconds each.
5. Photograph the heat and pattern
The camera opens filling the screen. Point it at the casting's heat code and pattern number and tap the shutter - the shot is captured on the spot. You do not type these; the stamp on the casting is the record, and it is kept sharp so it can be read automatically later. If your phone's own camera opens instead of the in-app one, take the picture and tap Use photo to keep it.
6. Photograph the defect and mark it
- The camera opens again. Fill the frame with the defect and tap the shutter.
- On the photo, drag a box around the defect with your finger. That box is exactly what tells a supervisor - and, later, an automatic model - where to look. Tap Clear to draw it again.
- Tap Save mark to keep the marked photo, or Skip to keep the photo without a box.
7. Tap what it is
The defect buttons appear. Tap the one that matches and the record saves on its own - no OK button, no confirm step. The app buzzes and returns to the camera for the next casting.
Not sure what it is? Tap Unknown. The piece is logged with its photos and sent up to your supervisor to identify. Do not force a wrong button just to move on - Unknown is the honest choice, and it is what trains the system.
Getting around
Two controls sit across the top of every screen, and nothing is buried in a menu:

Working offline
Two things make it work with no signal: add the app to your home screen (step 1 above), and sign in once while you have internet. After that the app opens, signs you in, and lets you log defects with photos even when the bench has no connection at all - nothing else is needed.
The status text at the top tells you the truth at a glance:
✓ all synced every photo is saved to the server. ↑ 3 queued three records are waiting for signal. ● offline no connection right now.
When queued or offline, nothing is lost. Photos and their marks are held safely on the device and sent the moment a connection returns - and they upload through our own server, on the same address as the app, so a network that blocks other cloud services is not the obstacle it would be with a direct upload. If your network is tightly locked down, ask IT to allow care101.sandtesting.org over HTTPS (port 443). You can keep logging the whole time, and it is worth opening the app on Wi-Fi now and then so the queue can catch up.
More than one device signed in? A device's captured work uploads when it reconnects, whatever else is signed in - syncing is not blocked by a session limit. Session limits apply to signing in, not to sending records a device has already logged. So a bench that logged offline still uploads everything, even if someone signed in elsewhere in the meantime.
Screen looks old after an update? Fully close the app and open it again once, and it fetches the latest version on the next start.
Console Supervisor
You confirm what the inspectors log, resolve the Unknowns, correct any wrong calls, and read the numbers. Your grading carries more weight than an inspector's, so your call becomes the working answer.
Sign in
Open care101.sandtesting.org/console.html, type your User ID (for example 1-admin) or email and your PIN. Four tabs are shown across the top: Queue, Log, Reports and (if you are also an admin) Setup. Your own PIN can be changed from the top-right change PIN link, which asks for your current PIN first.
The Queue - resolve the Unknowns
Every Unknown from the floor lands here, together with its photos, the marked-up defect region, and the full context - part, area, heat and who logged it. For each item you can:

Look before you grade. Click a photo to enlarge it. Each defect photo carries the inspector's box around the defect, and the label history shows what it was first called - useful context for your decision.
The Log - every record, and corrections
The Log tab is the full stream of what the floor has logged, newest first, each row with its heat/pattern and defect photos. Use it to check work and to fix a mistaken call:
- Reclassify - open any record and set the correct defect with a note. Both labels are kept; yours becomes the working answer and the change is shown in the record's history.
- Set a disposition - mark the affected pieces as reject or rework.
- Page through it - the log shows a page at a time. Step with Next and Back, and choose 25, 50 or 100 rows per page. Photos load as you scroll, so a long log stays quick.
Reports
Pick a date range, then read the numbers. Because inspectors log defects (not good pieces), the reports are built on defect counts, not a rejection percentage:

How many of each defect, broken down by part, area, shift and day. The Pareto of what your plant actually makes.

Where the defects are landing - the fastest way to see a part or a bench that needs attention.
Reclassification stats
How many logged calls a supervisor changed, who they came from, and which defects get confused for which. A ready-made training-needs list.
Register CSV
The full defect register for a date range, exported for customers and audits.
Console Expert
You are the final word. Items reach you only when a supervisor could not settle them, so your verdict closes the case.
- Open the console and go to the Queue tab. Switch to the Plant expert level (or Ask Versatile, if you answer for Versatile).
- Study the photos and the context. The inspector's and supervisor's earlier labels are shown, so the history is clear.
- Pick the correct defect and add a short cause-and-advice note, for example "friable mould edge near ingate - check green sand strength". Then grade it.
Your note travels. The advice you write is kept with the defect, so the plant sees not just what it was but what to do next time. Keep it to one useful line.
Console Admin
You set the stage. Before inspectors can log anything useful, the plant's work areas, parts, people and defect list are defined here. Most of this is done once at setup and then only touched now and then.
Everything below lives under the Setup tab of the console, which opens its own row of sub-tabs: Parts, Work areas, Defects, Users, Aliases and Settings. Each change is recorded in an audit log.
The setup checklist
- Work areas - list the places on the floor where inspection happens: Fettling, Final Inspection, Pre-dispatch and so on. These are the big buttons an inspector taps first, so keep them short and in the words your floor uses.
- Parts - add each component: part number, name, material, process and cavity count. Reference photos are added later by inspectors from the floor.
- Defects - this is the clever part, and it is meant to be easy. Tick the casting processes you run - Sand casting, Gravity Die Casting, Pressure Die Casting, or all of them - and CaRe 101 fills in the defects each process typically shows. Untick any you do not see to shorten the list, or add your own with Add a defect at any time. Whatever stays ticked is what appears as buttons on the floor app.
- Aliases - give a defect your plant's own local word, in any language. Your word is shown on the button; the system keeps its own canonical name underneath, so reports still line up.
- Users - add each person with a name, a User ID (a short login handle such as sunil) and/or an email, a starting PIN, and one or more roles. Their full login is the organization prefix plus the handle, for example 1-sunil. Tick Force PIN change so they set their own PIN at first sign-in. You can Edit anyone or Reset PIN at any time - as admin you do not need their old PIN. A person can hold several roles at once, and a departed person is set to inactive rather than deleted.
- Settings - name the plant, set the idle timeout, and tune the photo rule for the floor.
No zones to fill in. Inspectors mark the defect straight on the photo with a box, so there is no separate list of casting zones to maintain. Where the defect sits is captured in the picture itself.

A grading must be checked by a second person. An event is confirmed by a supervisor, and hard cases are settled by an expert, so no single person both logs and finally approves the same defect.
Security housekeeping
- Give each new user a starting PIN and tick Force PIN change, so only they know their real PIN. PINs are the login credential, so treat them as real keys.
- Signing in issues a token to that person, not to the device. If a phone is lost, reset the person's PIN - the old token stops working and a new sign-in is required.
- When a person leaves, set their user to inactive rather than deleting them, so their past records stay intact and their access ends at once.
Plans & the free tier
CaRe 101 is free for every foundry, and the free plan runs your whole rejection register end to end. You pay only when defect-photo volume grows or you switch on the automation. There is no per-user charge.
What the free plan includes
- Unlimited users. Create as many people as you like across every role.
- One active session per role - one Admin, one Expert, one Supervisor and one Inspector signed in at the same moment.
- The whole floor loop: photograph, mark the defect, tap what it is.
- The escalation ladder, reclassification, dispositions, and the full reports and register.
- Offline capture, with sync that is not blocked.
Unlimited users, not unlimited logins at once. You can add your entire floor. On the free plan one person per role is signed in at a time; a paid plan adds more concurrent sessions when several benches log together. Adding people does not cost anything.
What the paid options add

Getting a quote. An admin can open the built-in estimator in the console: set your castings and rejection rate, flip the options, and it prices it instantly and issues a formal quotation. Prices are in INR and exclusive of GST. Full pricing is at care101.sandtesting.org/pricing.html.
Pricing does not block the floor. Capturing and syncing defects is not stopped by a plan limit. The worst case is a prompt to upgrade - not lost work.
Your data & privacy
The photos and calls your team logs are the most valuable thing in CaRe 101, and they are yours. How we handle them is written down and does not change with your plan. This is the short version; the full policies are linked at the end.
Yours and isolated
Your records belong to your organization and are walled off from every other foundry. No one else can see, search or export them.
Models train only on your data
A model you train learns from your foundry alone. We do not expose your images or calls to other customers, and we do not sell your data.
Offline-safe
Records captured with no signal are held on the device and sync when a connection returns. Syncing already-captured work is not blocked.
Access by role
Sign-in is by PIN and role. An inspector, supervisor, expert or admin sees only what their role allows, and admin actions are recorded in an audit log.
Encrypted in transit
Everything travels over encrypted connections, and photos are reached only through short-lived, signed links.
Export any time
Pull your full register whenever you need it. When you leave, your data is deleted or returned to you on request.
What we collect and why. Account details (name, work email, role), the defect photos and the details attached to them, and basic technical logs for security. We use them to run the service and to bill paid plans - nothing else. Card and bank details are handled by our payment processor and are not stored by us.

Help & common questions
I cannot sign in
The first sign-in needs an internet connection, so connect and try again. Check that you are using the User ID your admin gave you (like 1-sunil) or your registered email. If the PIN is wrong, ask your admin to reset it.
How do I change my PIN?
On the console, use the change PIN link at the top right; it asks for your current PIN first. On the floor app, the PIN is set when you first sign in and whenever an admin resets it - the app prompts you for a new one at that sign-in. To change it any other time, ask your admin to reset it, and only an admin can do that without the old one.
I picked the wrong defect
Tell your supervisor, or fix it yourself from the Log if you are a supervisor. The record is reclassified and the new label becomes the working answer. Your original is kept in the history, so nothing is hidden.
How do I mark the defect on the photo?
After you photograph the defect, drag your finger across the picture to draw a box around it, then tap Save mark. To draw it again, tap Clear. The box tells a supervisor - and, later, an automatic model - exactly where to look.
My photos are stuck on "queued"
This is normal with no signal. Nothing is lost - the queue is sent automatically when a connection returns, and it uploads through our own server on the same address as the app. If your network is tightly locked down, ask IT to allow care101.sandtesting.org over HTTPS (port 443). Open the app on Wi-Fi now and then so it can catch up.
The app shows an old screen after an update
Fully close the app and open it again once. It refreshes itself to the latest version on the next start. You only need to do this after an update.
What if the same defect is on several pieces?
Log each piece as its own record, so every defect keeps its own photo and its own mark. That is what makes the register and the future model accurate.
